Hey all! I finally updated my full collection on the site here and am trying to transfer the list to Brickpicker so I can follow value. I can log onto the Brickset site with no problem, but whenever I try to enter my Brickset ID and password on the Brickpicker site it tell me I have something wrong. Of course Brickpicker is telling me the issue is with this site as when I asked them for guidance they said there'd been 19 such transfers that day with no problem. Any ideas here? I'd appreciate any and all insights - thanks in advance for your help!

Hello!

I recently added my LEGO collection to my profile because I need an estimate of its value. I am about to move from Belgium to the US for a permanent relocation and all my stuff will travel by sea in a container. I need to declare an estimated value of everything I own.
Now that I have added everything to my profile I can see that I own 188 sets for an estimated total of 4278$.
The problem is that all these sets have been purchased in Europe so the dollar value is way lower than what I actually paid for all this, is there a way to have the total calculated in pounds or euro?

I tried to search the forum for a similar discussion but could not find one.

Thank you!

(http://www.brickset.com/mySets/analysis/). I have hundreds of sets, but it sound better than it is, since not all is sets. Most of them is actually CMF. So, I though it could be fun to have a breakdown of the sets I own presented based on:

A - Regular sets (boxed ones)
B - Polybags/CMF sets (since they often boost the set numbers too much)
C - Other stuff (keychains, videogames, storageboxes etc.)

In that way, I'd know how many regular sets I have.

If possible, it could ofcause be great split down even further to

A - Regular sets
.....1) Priced £100+
.....2) Priced £50-99
.....3) Priced £20-49
.....4) Priced £5-19

B - Polybags
.....1) Polybag sets
.....2) CMF

C - Other sets
.....1) Keychains
.....2) Books
.....3) Videogames
.....4) Storage
.....5) Other

I have one helpful solution to the problem when you're reading a page/post and the content contains a set number you're not familiar with. Instead of opening another page and doing a search, I've implemented what Internet Explorer calls an "accelerator" for Bricklink and Brickset. You simply highlight the set number and you get a popup menu which provides shortcut ways of searching on Bricklink or Brickset.

With the Bricklink accelerator you also get an image preview. See the attached image for what it looks like for the Bricklink accelerator.

To make this available to others I need to host the files (an html page and a couple of xml files) on a website. I don't have one myself which is publicly available. Can anyone volunteer this (or convince Huw to host on Brickset.com?)

Hi there,

I am new to this site, and very excited that I got in soon enough to register all my almost 2 year olds Duplo sets and keep an eye on them and grow in to building with Lego too in the future.
I do have some random pieces as well as complete sets, that I bought on eBay, and was wondering is there a way to record just a piece. I have looked, but can't seem to say "I own" on just a piece of Duplo, like a spotted dog or extra flower for example.
My apologies if it is simple to do and I have missed the mark.
I only have 8 extra pieces to list somehow on here, but I have more on the way... Just hoping by being able to list parts, it would obviously help when combining sets to build new and exciting things.

Cheers in advance

I've mentioned that I was working on an 'advanced' means of querying the database in several threads. I now have something to look at and test, although it doesn't actually do any searching yet.

The user interface for creating ad-hoc queries is just about done and I'd like your feedback.

http://www.brickset.com/search/advanced/

You can create queries and see the resultant SQL that will, eventually, be executed (using a r/o database account, I hasten to add, to prevent SQL injection vulnerabilities)

You can specify queries to do things like

"show me all polybag sets released since 2007 that I don't own, order by year released, then number".
"Show me all sets with between 5 and 10 minifigs, order by number of minifigs, descending"
"Show me all sets in the themes Aquazone and Aquaraiders that cost less than $10, and order by year released"
"Show me all sets with an X in the name that were available from shop.LEGO.com in 2008" (useful, eh!)

that sort of thing, which can't of course be done at the moment.

Not every query will be possible because, to keep things simple, you can't specify how the terms should be bracketed. It assumes that you want OR terms bracketed together which in 95% of cases I believe you will do.

So, what you're testing is the UI for specifying the query and whether the SQL generated is what you're expecting. When that's done, I'll move on to saving and executing the query, then editing and sharing them with others.

There's a couple of things still to do, including providing guidance as to what type of data is valid in the text box (date, number, anything) and date validation.

LMKWYT...

Prompted on by recent discussions here, I've started work on the ACM again and should have something for you to test soon.

Use of the ACM will be optional, and if you don't opt to use it Brickset will behave exactly as it does now. If you do, additional facilities will be available on the site.

It will manifest itself in three ways. There will be an extra icon next to the 'notes' one in the search results which, when clicked, will pop up a window showing additional fields. There'll also be some form of 'spreadsheet' view of your entire collection to enable all the data to be viewed and edited. FInally, there'll be a means of exporting the data as a CSV.

I've been working on the pop-up window part and have this working at home, and almost ready for uploading for you to test.

Back in the summer last year, we discussed in the news comments what fields to include in the ACM, and some good suggestions were made. I'm going to make it possible to pick and choose which fields you see in your individual ACM, so that the thing doesn't become overwhelming for those that just want to record price paid or something. (that bit's not working yet)

The fields I am planning on making available are as follows. All fields will be text (and not number or date) to allow you to enter '2010' 'July 2010', '7/7/10' or whatever.

-Date acquired
-Price paid (with currency selected from a drop down list)
-Acquired from
-Condition when acquired (drop down list: MISB, As new, used complete, used incomplete)
-Condition now (drop down list: MISB, assembled, bagged up, parted out)
-Location (for you to record 'on display', 'in shed', 'round granny's or whatever)
-Notes
-For trade (check box) [*]

Check boxes to indicate the parts of the set you own, which hopefully will be linked to the condition and default to all ticked if you pick MISB, complete etc.
- parts
- minifigs
- instructions
- box

[*] This has been suggested here recently and could form the basis of some inter-member trading system in the future.

How does that sound as a start? I can add more fields later but it'll be easier to do so now, so if you have any suggestions let me know.

More info to follow when it's ready for you to test...

Huw

I think it would be interesting to be able to see some of the sets value changing over time and be able to know how much you have originally paid for it.

I have been doing this on the side notes so far, but maybe there could be another small section that would appear next to the retail price or something like that?

Thanks and happy "Legoing"! :)

I've noticed a few people changing their user names recently, and their activity record gets changed comlpetely to the new name. If they update their picture, then this gets noted in their activity. However, something significant like changing a name does not. Is it possible to have a note of who someone was on their profile after a name change?

I used to be able to get rid of the number that shows up in red next to my user name by clicking it and it would clear itself out. Has something changed to not let it do that anymore? I don't know why but me not being able to clear it is really messing with my OCD LOL :) Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated!!!
