Was introduced to lego by one of my friend and has found love with Super Heroes as well as Star wars. I am surprise by how fast time could fly pass when you are constructing the lego and at the moment, I am trying to complete a whole set of Super Heroes minifigures.
I've lurked on here for a good few months and thought I'd get involved in this lovely forum! It seems like there's a great community here.

I'm a Teessider now living in Newcastle and I was into LEGO in a huge way as a kid in the 90s (I'd even dream about the stuff!). As a computer gaming enthusiast, the Minecraft set brought me out of my dark ages last year and I have rediscovered my love for plastic. Luckily my childhood collection was safe in my parents' attic and has been reclaimed! I have been limiting myself to Star Wars (it has come a long way since my last SW set in '99) and the modulars (I have FB and Pet Shop) so far... My girlfriend is understanding and helps me build occasionally. We've just finished UCS R2-D2 which is superb.

It seems as though stores are popping up everywhere in the UK now - I wonder what our chances are here?

Thought I should properly introduce myself since I have been a long time lurker that has recently started posting. When I was a young child, I saw a model of a haunted house that I believe was made of cardboard. I fell in love with it instantly. I relentlessly begged my mom for it, but it just wasn't meant to be. I never forgot about that model and have loved all things classic monsters since then. Fast forward thirty some odd years later with my first child on his way - the haunted house model was again at the top of my mind. I decided to try to find something similar to what I had saw as a child so that I could make a tradition with my new son. I wanted it to be something that we could set up every year at Halloween time and enjoy together. A quick search led me to a designer's video of an upcoming set - #10228 The Monster Fighters Haunted House. It was absolutely perfect. It was even better than what I had originally had in mind. I bought it the night it was released. While waiting for the set to release I started looking for some minifigures of classic monsters to go with the house. I didn't realize how easy that task was going to be b/c I had never heard of the CMF figures before. One quick search on ebay and I was introduced to the CMF witch, mummy, Frankenstein monster, and werewolf. I was new to Lego, inexperienced, and I'm sure I paid out the nose for those figures on eBay. It doesn't matter though. The purchase of the HH and those first few minifigs was awesome! It was a childhood dream finally realized and it’s what led me to this wonderful hobby.

Since that first introduction I have completely became addicted, especially to the CMF line. I see most of the figures as an excellent way to make play & story time both fun and educational. The figures are a great way to introduce other cultures and elements from history. Of course my son is a ways off from that (he's not even 8 months old yet), but they will be here waiting when he is ready.

I have also dabbled in reselling as well, but that part really happened by accident. Once I left the dark ages, I started doing what the rest of you do - frequenting the Lego section every chance I get. I happened upon a clearance rack of Lego sets that were significantly reduced at my local Meijer. The clearance rack contained two Black Pearls, 1 Queen Anne’s Revenge, and 2 Alien Conquest Earth Defense. They were all marked down to $30.00 each. I knew nothing about investing in Lego, the value of those sets, or reselling at the time. I had actually never sold anything on eBay up until that point either, but I knew I should be able to make a little something off them b/c the price seemed so low. I didn't even have a smart phone at the time, so I couldn't check eBay before I pulled the trigger. I took a chance and bought them all right there. I listed everything except one of the Pearls on eBay. Imagine my surprise (and knew found obsession) when I saw what those sets were going for on ebay - I had them all sold in a couple of weeks and got a nice lump of cash to invest into my new hobby. Wish I would have held on to that QAR now... but I had no idea what I had at the time. I thought I was Mr. #1 Ebay Seller of the Universe after that. I soon learned that kind of find is few and far between though and lightening hasn't struck for the 2nd time yet. It's just crazy that I stumbled on to a stash like that at pretty much the exact moment I got into Lego.

Anyways - that's how it all came to be. It's been a great ride so far and I'm loving it. I cannot wait for my son to grow up enough to join me. I found this forum by way of Eurobricks but now spend the majority of my time here. Its hands down the site I frequent the most these days and I love reading the Collecting & Buying / Selling topics. This place is a wealth of knowledge with a great community.

So I was a huge lego fan as a kid. I drove my parents nuts digging through them for hours at a time on car trips. I never really stopped liking them, I just didn't have money for them. Anyways, I've been buying legos after about a 15 year absence, mainly Star Wars and LOTR. I'd like to start doing MOCs if I can find the right theme/subject.

Also, today was a nice day for me, not just because I acquired the Super Star Destroyer (which I did!!!) but because my wife found me in the Lego store admiring the box and she went right up and asked them to bring one out from the back for us. I was in shock (she isn't a Lego fan, per se). Anyways, I haven't brought myself to open it yet, I'm still admiring the box.

I'm 17 old male from Slovakia and I just got into LEGO once again and I found this awesome website :P . Last 2 or rather 3 years I wasn't very interested in it, I even came to the point where I thought that I won't be coming back ever again but then some weeks ago I got really into LEGO . I haven't really bought anything yet, but recent themes like upcoming Castle and The Lone Ranger will be most likely my next purchase:) I really enjoy Castle and Western themes ever since I was little kid, nothing has changed I suppose :P. BTW it feels a bit weird when a lot of you are twice as old as I am hehe. That's all about me:)
Also sorry for any mistakes my English isn't perfect.

I loved LEGO as a kid and finally gave into the urge to collect LEGO last year when my boys asked if they could have some series 6 CMF's. I love CMF's and feeling the packets but am up to date with recent series so am working my way back through series 1 & 2, also love harry potter, monster fighters, city, creator, marvel super heroes, ninjago and I have my first(maybe only?) TMNT kit which arrived earlier but I'm reserving judgement on that until the boys are asleep and I can savour it in peace. My main passion though is buying star wars LEGO kits for my husband and sons, even if that sometimes means buying it brick by brick from bricklink.
My husband gets my LEGO obsession which is amazing but my friends do not, and I would really love to find some like minded peeps and share a love of LEGO :D

It's occurred to me that I've never actually introduced myself on here (one of the first things I did on here was hide a load of the topics), so I thought I'd say hello now!

I'm in my mid-30s, and am fairly close to Manchester. I've been 'back into' Lego for about 9 months now. It started with the Forest Police City sets last year, then graduated to larger sets at the end of the year. I've found I'm mainly interested in the Modular Buildings, Winter Village range and some exclusives (such as Tower Bridge).

I'm currently contemplating starting a Bricklink store to try to get a bit of money back from this hobby...

Is there anyone else on here in and around the Manchester area?

It made me realize how fun it was.

I ended up getting the TMNT lair attack set today. My nephew also got me back into TMNT as well. I was obsessed with the show when I was little and it is cool to see a new generation get into it again. I would also like to get the Shellraiser set as well, which was sold out today when I looked at wal-mart. I've heard it got mixed reviews, mainly people saying it was flimsy but I still want it ( can anyone that actually had one confirm?)

I don't know if I am going to try for other sets or not. They have so many to choose from and I am also short on cash sadly.

Most people would paint the walls or add some flowers, however, I've decided to make the end panels of the kitchen out of lego. Bear with me, it's not a bad idea...

I'm hoping to find a bit of inspiration here, maybe make a few contacts with regards to sourcing more lego.

I've completed an end panel and a filet strip on a cupboard, as well as a low splash back around the sink. I've just got to get some more lego to do either end of the island. This is 900mm x 830mm.

I've got a few pics of what I've done already, I'll try and attach them.

I've been a fan of lego for 30 odd years, sadly my parents got rid of most of my stock when they moved, because they thought I'd 'grown out of it'!!

Anyway, that's me...

Hello all!

I came out of my Dark Ages in the summer of 2012 whilst browsing through a toy aisle and coming across the updated Batcave. I then caught the fever, went berserk, loaded up my life with Lego, and have been enjoying the hobby immensely.

I discovered Brickset pretty quickly and have been using it as my main source of news, rumors, and, of course, as a means of keeping tabs on my collection.

I love reading the forum, and decided it was time to sign up just in case I felt compelled to chime in on anything. Being new to this subset of fandom, I'm not quite up to speed on all the lingo, etiquette, and what-not, so I mostly lurk. I have learned so much from everyone here! Thank you to everyone who contributes!

My interests are varied, just like everyone else on here, but my first love is Star Wars. I also love the Modulars and the Monster Fighter line was absolutely brilliant!

After all my initial excitement I've definitely started to slow down on my purchases. At first, I'd try anything! City sets? Yep. Creator sets? Yep! Lego Exclusives? Triple yep!! Hero Factory? Yeah, but not for long haha! Still haven't tried a Technic set or Mindstorms, but they are on my radar.

Any-who, thanks for reading this and I look forward to more Lego madness!!

Hello all, I have had a metaphorical toe in the water on this site for several years and decided to jump in properly, I have been obsessed with lego since I can remember the red letter day was in 1979 when I was given a tiny box with small lego cosmic flyer with an astronaut minifig. My pocket money was henceforth split between Star Wars figures and Space Lego and as the first trilogy faded just lego. I carried on in a steady way throughout my teens (technic was an acceptable way of maintaining "street cred" as we used to say) then a hiatus as more worldly things suppressed my inherent love of the brick. I thought I was heading slowly towards a dull middle age then wallop new Star Wars movies and our friends in Denmark released the first Star Wars system sets. Finally an excuse to combine my two passions in one convenient way and the rest is history. The last 14 years of both licensed and system themes have brought so much pleasure to me and am looking forward to debating and discussing the past present and future of all things lego with you all.

I hadn't played with my bricks for years, even though I've been a LEGO club member since I was 8 (I'm 25 now!)--gosh I can't believe how many magazines I've accumulated.

Several months ago, I was at my parents' home for a weekend visit and stumbled upon my old box of LEGOs and promptly brought it back to my apartment. After cleaning up a special surprise in the form of a nest of spider babies, I started building again.

My favorite sets were from Exploriens and UFO (circa 1996), although I have a few City pieces as well.

I'm a hobbyist film guy--want to make it into a career one day (much more fun than working in an office as a mortgage analyst). I'd love it if you guys would critique my work so far. I've got a couple LEGO vids there I'd like to get some feedback on:

But yeah, that's my intro.
I've been following everyone here for several years. I finally decided to join up! I've been collecting/selling for the last 10 years or so. I stumbled across LEGO flipping by accident. My first flip was the Holy Grail, Star Wars Ultimate Collector's Millennium Falcon. I purchased this set for 50% off from a Toys R Us that was closing. I was happy to make $100 profit! Of course I could charge for shipping back then too. ;) Since then I've been hooked and flipping ever since. Star Destroyers, Taj Mahals, Dreamliners, Emerald Nights, and more.

My stash isn't anywhere near what some of you have. I just wanted to remind us all that there are more of us out there. I was a little discouraged to see the attention that LEGO resellers/investors were getting. The less of us the better. I stumbled across flipping LEGO on my own almost a decade ago and now see more and more into it. Although I think there is room for more participants I also could see the market saturating with everyone sitting on sets to sell in the future. Where do we all go from here? Sell quicker? Wait out the newcomers? I don't know. :)

I hope to add a little extra to the forums here. I'm in my mid 30s and live in the Great Lakes region. I'm a pretty casual collector and wait for sales and deals on everything that I buy. I will post some pictures of some of my stash when I get things moved around. Like everyone else I need more space!

BigKid

Hi everyone,

you can call me Yong (from Yong Tau Foo, a very famous dish from Singapore). Yong Tau Foo is a mixture of many many different ingredients in all color, taste and textures. Just as Lego is.

I used to play Lego when I was 7 years old. I got this one and only set of robot. But I was able to make it into hundreds of models [shape of which might does not even make sense =) ]

After years in uni, I'm about to find a job. Then suddenly, last night I read a saying from Oscar Wilde "To live is the rarest thing. Most of the people exist, and that's all". It burns in me since the journey I'm about to embark on does not exactly reflect my true interest in life. One of the true interest is my girlfriend oversea which I'm trying to get our distance shortened. But i guess I need something else for my own.

And it could be Lego. I'm trying to make some models from very general pieces. But like any new comers, I don't know where should I start from e.g. building & techniques or from getting familiar with all kinds of pieces etc. I even think of having to draw some models first, even before trying assembling all the pieces in Digital Designer (which I dont even know if it is a good software for Lego mock-up)

I hope to make more friends. I have a vision of meeting everyone and discuss about models we made. Please let me know of anything I should do to join you in this humble adventure.

Thanks for your time and may the force be with you.

Fortunately, I don't think the hubby is *too* unhappy - he might grumble about the number of sets I've bought recently, but there was no hiding his excitement when he got to play with the #7938 (Passenger Train) I'd set up while he was out for the day :)

Anyway - that's me and Lego in a nutshell - looking forward to spending time round here and getting to know you all a bit better!

Just thought I'd say hi. Have been a regular guest visitor here for ages but have joined up now. Have been collecting various sets for a few years since my two boys got me back into it by helping them build their own sets. I don't really collect any specific theme - I'll buy anything if the price is right although I tend to avoid the star wars sets as for some reason I just don't get the hype and don't like the inflated prices they command. I am near Plymouth in Devon and have 2 boys and a girl who all love Lego - it is my young daughter who loves to help me build most though, especially if I have friends sets to build. I hope to get around to sorting my collection out when I can tidy some space and then I can start adding them to brisket as I cannot keep track of what I have at the moment.

Hello everyone, I have finally decided to make an introduce myself post since joining in May 2012.

I'm currently living in England, and I'm from Hong Kong.

I also collect Minichamps and Autoart model cars in 1:43 scale, hope there are other Bricksetters who collect these too.

I grew up with LEGO where my parents were buying them for me to build and play etc, remembered my father managed to build a MOC house for me before I demolished it because I wanted some bricks!

Anyway, nice to be here on Brickset, had a couple of trades and purchases already.

Also considering to join the Brickish Association or not!?

I mainly collect technic, creator, architecture and figures across the licensed themes!

Looking forward to have a few more LEGO friends to trade LEGO / share LEGO bargains with!!

Cheers! ~

Chiming in from rural north Missouri in a small town of 350 (or so) people. Yes, we do meet the minimum requirements to call refer to ourselves as townsfolk.

Been a Lego fan since 1979 when I got my Space Command Center set for Christmas. Long dark ages, returned to the hobby again about 5 years ago when my kids where old enough to "safely" enjoy my childhood sets.

My interests have ranged from sports memorabilia to comics to cards but in the last few years I've been replacing it all with Lego. I never thought I'd be able to acquire so much of these plastic bricks in such a short time. I mean really, what else do you think there is to do in a town this small? We have a post office, school and gas station, that's it, if you blink you will surely miss it.

Been a lurker on here for a few years, thought I'd surface and say Hi.
