  • Probably the smallest brag ever .... I managed to get 6 packs of Series 4 CMF in Sainsbury's at the weekend for 60p each. Someone had hung them in a freezer compartment, I dread to think how long they had been there. I didn't actually want anything in the freezer and I don't really know why I opened it, perhaps it was just destiny. I opened them up and I got three monsters and three crazy scientists. They don't appear to have suffered for being in the freezer.

    @CCC thats funny. lol
  • @jadenanc Was 7931 "marked" as clearance? I don't go out of my way to check Targets, but I haven't seen anything marked.
It was marked on the shelf at $25 but rang up regular price. I had made sure of triple checking the tag on the shelf as I thought that was real cheap for a set of that size. It had the correct barcode numbers and said T6 Jedi (whatever its called lol) so the guy when back on the shelf, found the tag and gave it to me for that price. While he was checking on it, the cashier looked up in the computer and told me that this set had NEVER been showed as being on sale at any time at Target. But the other sales rep saw the tag and brought it back and checked the code. Bingo! It was the same. So I honestly have no clue about it :) Just luck and a keen eye on the tags.

  • Not a big find but I was pleased to get 8096 Emperor Palpatines shuttle for $40 CAD @ Walmart a week ago. $80 normally.

Had a deal that made me happy, found on Dutch Marktplaats. Some nice Adventures sets including The Temple of Anubis for € 80,00. All in good condition and most with boxes.

Nothing like previous "brags" here but I like it.
  • I got a 2556:

    http://brickset.com/detail/?set=2556-1

On ebay for £25 (inc. p&p). For the price they are on BL it might not seem like much, but on bricklink you can't buy even a used one from a seller in the UK. At least, I haven't found one. The seller listed it as used, and when it got here the box had shelf wear but all the pieces were still in the original bag with the stickers on it. It's the first set I bought since getting back into Lego and I still can't bring myself to open it!
  • I bought 20 NISB Series 6 Minifigs for $33.85 shipped.
  • I bought 20 NISB Series 6 Minifigs for $33.85 shipped.
    Where from?

Do you know if they were "felt up" ones or had the barcodes / bump codes been viewed to select them? I have made the mistake of buying a job lot of 20 packs that had been cherry picked leaving me with multiple copies of the less desirable ones (including five fitness instructors and five cave girls).

That said, the cave girls look decent enough as a small Amazonian army.
  • Just got 2x 7187 (Escape from Dragon´s Prison) for 13€ each! Seems like a nice lil´catch!
  • I never thought I'd have something to add to this thread, but here it is: I found three Battle of Naboo (7929) for $7 each. Not my favourite set, but the price! The price! :)
  • Not a huge brag, but...

A couple of years ago I purchased some used universal building sets from the late '70's, and of course the parts were random and not accurate to the set. The seller apparently just threw a bunch of older-looking pieces in the boxes and called it good. I put the boxes into storage and forgot about them.

I recently dug them out and went through the sorting process, and found many 2x3 and 2x4 bricks with the slots in the tubes (early to mid-70's vintage), many more 2x4 bricks without the side supports, and a couple of "patent pending" plates (which have the curvy LEGO logo on the studs instead of the current font). For a non-collector of old-old LEGO, these represent the oldest pieces I own.

Hi, sorry for the late reply. They were bought from a eBay seller with more than 7000 positive feedback. I don't think they were "felt up" as he had 65 quantity, but you never know.

  • ^ lol, because he had 65???
  • I wouldn't be so sure. I've bought boxes of CMF in the past, sorted out the ones I wanted by bump codes and then sold off the others still sealed. I doubt there will be many romans or robots in those 65.
  • Just pre-ordered a brand-new case of Series 7 Collectible Minifigures for $174.99. Happened to be on the very page seconds after they loaded them for pre-order (unlike with Series 6 which I missed by less than two hours and all of their cases sold out in under six hours).
  • I just picked up Cafe Corner, Market Street, and Green Grocer from a guy on craigslist for $600. They're all used, but they're in great shape! I was extremely excited!

Was it in the Dallas craigslist

It was. It was advertised for $750, but the guy took $150 off since I showed up that night. They don't have the box or the instructions, but even still, at $200 each, it's not a bad haul. I've already got a Green Grocer, so that one will be hitting BrickLink once I verify the parts.

Yep I saw that early that Sunday, great buy
  • I bought a MISB 7939 Cargo Train for $135, and a used, like-new, 7733 Cargo Truck for $20. Shipping was $14 for both.
  • ^ why? just curious
Guarantees that I get the ones I want should I not be able to find at least three of any kind at a Lego store and that I don't have to resort to blind purchases off of Shop-At-Home. I can always sell off the extras or give them to friends while retaining those that I want.

  • found jabba's sail barge 6210, boxed with instructions, no mini figs about 90% complete for £2 at a car boot sale in South London.
  • @JoeCrisp - that has got to be one of the best finds ever!! Congratulations!

I drove many miles to purchase these two sets but, it was well worth it!

    http://brickset.com/detail/?set=10177-1 $60
    http://brickset.com/detail/?set=7470-1 $25

    Both in mint condition.
  • ^Wow! Both of these sets are on my want list. You found yourself a great deal.

^Nice one on the CMF5 collection!
  • Made a nice deal again, a used 7573-1 Battle of Alamut from Dutch Marktplaats. Sent home for €38.75, not bad I think.

  • I just bought the following from my local WM:

    2 - 7930 Bounty Hunter Pursuits for $25 each
    1 - 7305 Scarab Attack for $2.60
    1 - 4736 Freeing Dobby for $5.40
1 - 30028 Holiday Wreath for $3.49 (not such a great deal, but I didn't own one yet)
1 - 4191 Captain's Cabin for $9 (again, not a great deal, but why not?)
  • samiam391samiam391 A Log Cabin in KY, United States
Wow, some great deals there! Congrats on the good finds!
  • Car boot sale this morning, Firemen sets with figs 7240 boxed instructions 7043 7239 7942 and a helicopter. £6 the lot

  • I just found a battle of endor in sealed mint, shiny new condition for the original rrp of 99.99 in a local toy shop near me. To think its been sitting there since 2009. (They also have some 08 pirate sets I'm going to snag up)

My local Toys R Us still has a boat load of these at MSRP.
  • Yeah I found one at my local tru also, for 110 and the box was all messed up and wrapped in a security wrap. This is one I don't care to build, and am satisfied with having it as a collection peice. The box alone is amazing, and the bad reviews on the walker just deter me from wanting to open it and build it.
  • Yea, I love the glossy LEGO boxes. They look fantastic. Too bad they rarely/never exist on City sets.
  • @zjygkmatt: are you referring to the AT-ST walker from the Battle of Endor set? You really shouldn't be deterred by reviews from people who think it looks odd flailing around upside down in mid-air when using its walking function. Even my 6 year old realised that when employed with a little skill to walk across the ground, it is actually quite cool. And the model itself is the best system scale AT-ST easily. Build that sucker.

My recent great find was a 4483 AT-AT recreated in the new greys for a shade over US$60. The seller (cheers P&R!) named it the BleyT-AT, and so it shall forever be known.

Another great recent find was a slightly incomplete 10195 Dropship and AT-OT at a bargain price. The pure gold of this purchase started with the seller's dedication to recovering most of the missing pieces after the trade and sending them on free of charge, even though the set was explicitly sold as incomplete. All they requested in return was that I treated others in kind.

At the time it seemed like a warm-hearted sentiment I'd be unlikely to act on as a buyer, not a seller. Then a parcel of lego I hadn't purchased arrived in the post. It came from a very tardy seller who still hadn't posted the set I actually bought. Tracked down the purchaser through another auction and it turned out their young child had saved for yonks to buy a small pack of six SW clones with a little walker and speeder. He'd been waiting for over 3 weeks for it to arrive with no word. That's a freaking eternity for a kid. So it gave me great pleasure to stuff a bunch of extra clones, mandalorians, droids, a super battle droid and a spare Anakin into his parcel before sending it on. Hope it makes him fizz at the bung like my dropship does. Cheers to Chris M. Love your work.

Walked in on a discount bin at Superstore in Edmonton and found Pharoahs Cursed Cobra Statue for 13$ Cars 8206 and 8424 for 7.50 and creator 5761 for 3$. Parts is parts!
  • Though it has been a while, I got a 7036 Dwarves' Mine for about 2 bucks at a thrift store. I think it was missing the mine carts, boulder, and a few other random pieces. Had most if not all of the minifigs and the bigfig (megafig? haha) troll. If I recall, the box was even in good shape. haha.

I also picked up a few 8304 racers for 1.50 at walmart this week.

@Fatteh Nice work. You've probably made that kid's week. I passed on a really good deal at a garage sale because I overheard an elderly couple discussing if (presumably) their grandson was old enough for a lego set of that size, just after I picked up the box. I set it back down and the older gentleman almost raced over to get it. If the child that got it was as happy to get it as they were, definitely worth it.
  • ^ Nice! I've always wanted the Dwarves' Mine but found the price to be too steep so I never got it.
  • @LegobrandonCP I really should put it together, now that I have the time, and see just how much is there. Interesting note on that set, there was also the dome for a tie fighter or something in the box, but no other pieces I could tell that didn't belong... figure that one out.

    Other deals I forgot:
    40021 polybag for 25 cents
6 pack of duplo track (curved, yet in a straight box) and a few train pieces/cars including a Stanley (5545, train only) for the future kid(s) for about 4 bucks.

All from this week at that same thrift store that the Dwarves' Mine came from.

And a few months ago at a garage sale I got a plastic folgers coffee container full of duplos for 25 cents.

Just snagged all the Lego Star Wars Cloud City figures for $278 in MINT condition.

Not the best deal, but they make a crazy minifigure collector such as myself very happy! :)
  • I found a 4643 Power Boat Transporter at Tesco the other day for £10, and yesterday got the 4644 Marina for a very reasonable £19. More hunting tonight!

  • Whoah, nice

Almost had a Tower Bridge the other day for $100 - brand new. Guy emailed me back at 9:44 pm and then someone showed up and bought it a little later :( He was selling a birthday present to his daughter that was too young.
