If Lego did partner up, think of all the unique semi-trucks and trailers (I've been in them, NASCAR trailers are not just an empty shell)... and the colors needed to meet all the different car paint jobs :)

They could have similar current racecar models, the haulers, and even sponsors that are LEGO type. Maybe even a generic oval track with separate sets to make the grandstands and infield garages. The drivers could just have the different faces (2-sided just incase they get mad) and maybe even a media team.

Either way, I'm so up for a minifig Shaun taking the car, going to Mum's, Killing Phil, grabbing Liz, and going to the Winchester to have a nice cold pint, and waiting for all of this to blow over.

Since Shaun of the Dead is a comedy, and you present your work in a humorous fashion, we believe this is within the realm of the LEGO company brand standards on violence. Note that the zombie theme does put this project at the edge of what we produce, however we recognize that the LEGO Group produces other products where themese of violence and death play a significant role.
Please understand that this initial green light does not have an effect on the LEGO Review that will take place if the project reaches 10,000 supporters. The nature of the work would require some significant internal discussion before we make the decision to produce such a set.
In the mean time, we wish you the best of luck on your journey to 10,000 supporters!"
I think it would be the subject of much discussion within TLG but my gut feel is they would do produce something, albeit with all the edges (understandably) taken off.
I hope it gets there, but it could just as easily tail off over the next few days and get stuck a la western town.

If it was Johnny Depp saying that he thought the PoTC sets were cool, would you also assume he is saying it to make 'extra money'?
I think having a well known actor talk about our niche hobby can only be a good thing and can't believe for a second it was done to make him 'extra money'.

I thought cuusoo was meant to be for lego fans voting, not just anyone that saw something on TV. What is the point of putting a non-licensed theme on there, if only licensed themes will get the right number of votes through TV plugs.

Wikipedia tells me that the pub is in New Cross (SE London) but was converted into flats several years ago. I was lucky enough to be there when they filmed the 'Queen' scene though - beating the landlord with snooker cues and throwing darts - here's a pic I took that day...

I don't know if Lego is limiting the amount of votes of a household to one, but if not, encourage your moderately Lego interested wife, girlfriend, teenage kid, friend, cousin or brother to register on Cuusoo and give their votes. I think they should at least have some interest in Lego as that is only fair to TLG who are assuming that those 10'000 votes comes from fans that are at least somewhat likely to purchase the product they voted for.

I think we need to remember that AFOLs make up a small percentage of Lego sales, and with cuusoo TLG is looking to expand it's market and get MORE people buying lego (whether that's a model of their favourite computer game, film, submarine or whatever) not just create models for the exisiting AFOL market, that will probably buy the new sets anyway.

Also, although it's a really well done model, I was getting a little fed up with the three line whip that was imposed by the lego community on voting for the Western set. It was really getting pushed hard from all quarters, so its rather amusing that this concept model has flown past it in votes!

Will it be bad publicity when people vote for it and find out Lego is expensive?
The answer to both is probably that it doesn't matter. If they don't make it, then people that weren't interested in Lego are still not interested in Lego. If it is too expensive, same deal, those people weren't going to buy Lego anyway.
But with social media going hysterical these days, will there be twitter and facebook campaigns against Lego for not making it or making it too expensive?

I'm sure that as part of the design process different price points and levels of detail/size would be considered to either maximise TLGs profit or their potential loss depending on how they are expecting a set to perform.
